"To all the members of the "chotanagpurinus.org."
During my short visit to New York, Sunday, 19 May 2002, turned out tobe a memorable day. Under the able leadership of Mr. John Ekka and Bro. Vincent Minj, SSP, the Chotanagpurians, working in and around New York City gathered together on 19 May 2002, in the afernoon at the Society of St. Paul, in Staten Island. On this occasion Mr. Pradeep Toppo and his family from Indiana and Miss Cecilia Toppo from Indian Consulate in Brazil also were present. I was really happy to meet them.
At 2.00 pm we had a solemn Hindi Eucharistic Celebration. The singing was led by Mrs. Manju Ekka and Mrs Maria Beck. After the Mass we had a fellowship meal. Each one had brought generously Indian food for sharing with others. It was an experience of true family spirit. After the meal the new comers and I were felicitated with welcome songs, dances and garlands.
I was happy to see that the Chotanagpurians were taking bold steps to improve their social status. I am sure they will become examples for many chotanagpurian young men and women.
I am deeply grateful to those organized the get-gether and those who participated in it. I am grateful because the get-together was organized on the occasion of my New York visit. I wish all the Chotanagpurians living and working in the USA. May God Bless you.
