August26,2000 The meeting was convened on August 26th, 2000 at Tarshila Kujur place, Woodside, New York. The agenda of the meeting was to decide/discuss : 1) Whether name of the association should be changed and what should be the new name 2) What is the criteria for membership 3) What is the responsibility of the members 4) Mission Statement 5) Frequency of meeting 6) To invite Bishop Joseph Minz as Spiritual Advisor 1) About changing the name of the association it was decided to keep it for the time being till we come up with some suitable and appropriate name 2) The criteria for the membership was decided as the person has to be Chotanagpurian by origin or have to be sympathetic towards the association?ause and ready to contribute towards the fulfillment of the mission statement. 3) It was suggested in the meeting that each member should approach at least one person and inform him/her about our association and should try to make him/her a member 4) Mission statement was also discussed in a broad way. It was also suggested by Mr. Agnelo that it should have at least have mission (a) to help the people of Chotanagpurian origin in US and abroad (b) to help the people of Chotanagpurian orgin in India 5) For frequency of meeting during discussion it was suggested that the office bearers should meet every quarter and for all the members twice a year may be sufficient. Apart from these any special occasion such as Bishop priest arrival from India may give an opportunity to meeting of members who can attend. 6) It was concluded after discussion that a formal invitation to join the association as Spiritual Advisor to Bishop Joseph Minz should be extended for which a formal letter has to be drafted. July 23,2000 The meeting was convened on July 23rd, 2000 at Alba House, Staten Island, New York. The attendees decided to form a non-profit association, Chotanagpur Rising Association with Mr. John Ekka serving as the honorary secretary-treasurer of the association. The attendees also decided unanimously that Br. Vincent Minz will serve as the first President and Messrs Ajit Lakra and Marianus Ekka serve as the Vice Presidents of the association. The association membership is open to all with Chotanagpurian heritage in America and India. The association membership will work towards social benefits for people both here in US and India of Chotanagpur origin. The association will provide a forum for mutual benefit. It was also decided that any political party or ideas would not influence this association. The contact address and telephone numbers of all the members were taken for distribution to all the members. Mr. Agnelo Dias volunteered to provide necessary forms/inputs and other information for registration of the association with authorities. The association will collect voluntary contributions from the attendee/members to bear the cost of registration. John will determine the cost of registration in coordination with Agnelo; and propose a date, venue and agenda for the next meeting. It was decided to create an e-mail account so that people, either in India or US, can reach the association with their queries and questions. It is chotanagpurinus@hotmail.com. Right now Mr. Marianus Ekka, Mr. Ajit Lakra and Mr. John Ekka has access to this e-mail, who will be responsible for reading the e-mails and responding back as well as forwarding it to the required person/persons.
